Chapter 2: Day 41: 03 Mar 2019

Today was a fun day out in the city! Malachi and I had planned on getting up early and going into the city to the Car Boot Sale, but,I accidentally slept in an hour later than planned. When I finally got my butt out of bed we made breakfast and headed into town. Since it was still early enough we decided to go walk around the Car Boot Sale and I was lucky enough to have found a brand new Adidas rain jacket with tags still on for £3. While I did not necessarily need another rain jacket I knew I could not pass it up.There was plenty more I could have bought, but we both managed to not spend much money.

When we were done with that we walked down to the Royal Mile on our way to Grassmarket to check out some antique shops (which were all closed since it was Sunday) and a joke shop. While we were on the Royal Mile we got to see a street performer which was very fun! While wandering around for a bit more we were getting hungry and had originally packed a lunch for a picnic, but it was a bit cold out so we decided to find a restaurant. We looked at a few places and ended up going to Fiddler’s Arms. It was a very cute pub with reasonably priced food that was really good! 

Chapter 2: Day 42: 04 March 2019

Today started as a normal day with class in the morning, lunch and then started our adventure. After lunch Emme asked if anyone wanted to go on a walk so Riley, Malachi and myself decided to join. We thought we were just going to go on a regular, short walk around the estate, but that quickly changed when we hiked through holly bushes, crawled under an electric fence and wandered through a pasture. We tried to avoid the regular paths as much as we could and it was very fun. We ended up hiking down to the river and then up the river and through a culvert. Once we were done in the river we headed up to the path and ended up climbing a wall and exploring an abandoned tower for a while before we had to head back to the house for dinner.

After dinner we were trying to decide what to do and I ended up watching a movie for a while before a group decided that they wanted to go to the club Why Not?. I know what you’re thinking it is a Monday night why would they go to a club, but the thing is that Monday is their student night. So, as much as I just wanted to go to sleep I forced myself to get ready and go out and I am so glad that I did. We got into the city around 11:30, found the club and danced the night away.

Chapter 2: Day 43: 05 March 2019

Today was a good productive day. I had class in the morning and was very exhausted from last night, but it was so worth it. I had class and then worked on homework for most of the afternoon. The night was relaxing and I went to bed early to catch up on the sleep I lost from the night before.

Chapter 2: Day 44: 06 March 2019

Today started with class again and lunch duty. After lunch I hung out, relaxed and did homework. After dinner I was going to relax for a while since I did not have a plan, but I was talking to Malachi and he said that he had to go to a lecture at the University for class, so I decided to join. The lecture was presented by Stand up to Racism Scotland. It was interesting to hear what they all had to say even though it got heated. I am glad that I went and got to learn more about something I did not know much about.

Once the lecture was over Jamie (the professor) got us a cab back to the house. When we got back we both got ready and met up with other to go back into the city for Kate’s birthday. After we all got ready we grabbed the bus and headed into town. On our way we say flashing lights behind up and though that it was just an emergency vehicle going by, but the bus ended up getting pulled over! The police came onto the bus, took someone off and we were on our way. We still do not know exactly why they took the person off, but we are wondering if they had something medically wrong because we saw an ambulance go by not too long after.

When we finally got to the city we tried to get into the Speakeasy, but it was too full for all of us, so we went to boozy cow and I took a couple people to McDonalds for food. We left the others at Boozy Cow and said that we would meet them there after, but when we went they had moved onto another bar, so we hunted them down and found them at a bar across town. I dropped off the people who wanted to eat and ended up just heading back to the house because I was tired and did not feel the best. So, Andrew, Melissa and I all caught the bus back to the house. It was a nice ride back because I got to talk with Melissa. As much as I wanted to stay out it was a good thing that I went back and called it a night.

Chapter 2: Day 45: 07 March 2019

Today was a busy day of class! We had a test this morning, then lecture, lunch and a field trip. For our field trip we went to the Museum on the Mound which is a museum about the Scottish banking system and their currency. If we are being honest I was not looking forward to it at all, but it was more fun than I thought which was a nice surprise. The best part of the day was that Brooks (our professor) bought us ice cream after! When we were done with ice cream we caught the bus home and had a relaxing night since we all had to get up early the next day.

Chapter 2: Day 46: 08 March 2019

Today we had a long, but very fun day at St. Abbs Head, Tantallon Castle and the Glenkinchie Whiskey Distillery. We started at St. Abbs Head for few hours of beautiful hiking. I walked around with Andrew, Riley and Jerod and we hiked, climbed and rock hopped. It was a beautiful view and a nice day. After walking we headed to explore Tantallon Castle for a while. The castle is on the coast, so the view from the top is incredible. I think this is one of my favorite castles to visit when I am over here. We explore for a while before loading back up and going to Glenkinchie Distillery. Before we left Oliver (professor’s son) asked if he could sit with me on the way to the tour and of course I was honored to say yet! We talked and laughed and made up stories about his new dragon he just got. He was one of the best bus mates to have.

When we got there we walked through their museum before starting our tour. Personally I love learning about how Whiskey is made so I was very fascinated by the tour. At the end of the tour we got to sample some of their whiskey which I was excited about, but most people were not a fan. When the tour was over we got back on the bus and headed home.

Once we got home we cleaned up from the day and decided to order pizza. Malachi and I went to go pick it up and on our way there Patty was going to get food, so she gave is a ride. Once we got the pizza we headed back and met up with Kyle and Sarah to eat! After food we decided to have a relaxing night watching movies.

Chapter 2: Day 47: 09 March 2019

Today was a very fun and busy day! I started the day by going to the farmers market with Emme and Brooks to complete an assignment for our Econ class. After that Emme and I walked around for a while and decided to stop at Cafe Coro for some delicious waffles before finding our way to Cafe Class to meet up with Riley, Andrew, Ellie, and Melissa for lunch. Both of the cafes were very cute and had delicious food. When we were done eating, we caught the bus back to the Royal Mile where Ellie, Riley and I met up with Brooks and some other students from the palace to meet some students from St. Cloud State. Their class was doing a spring break tour and were in town for the night, so we got to show them around for awhile and take them out for dinner. I was so happy that we got this opportunity and wish they could have stayed longer with us.

After we were done with dinner we got them back to the bus stop and headed home. A group of us decided to go check out Why Not? again, so we got ready and headed back into the city. We started at Why Not?, and danced for a while, but the music was not as good as Monday night so we tried to get in somewhere else but everywhere else was already closing, so Ellie, Malachi and I got pizza and decided to head home for the night.
