Chapter 2: Day 35: 25 Feb 2019
This morning I had my first day of second module classes. This module I am taking Survey of Economics. I love studying Econ so I was excited to know that they offered it when I could take it. There are only two of us in the class, Emme and myself, but it will still be fun. There are five classes running right now and with only 25 students it is common to only have a couple students in the class. The first day of class was good, I have taken five other Econ classes and this is a 100 level class so I am not too worried for the class, but it has been a while so I am sure I will still have to relearn things.
Once class was over we had, lunch and then I relaxed for a bit before meeting up with Cameron (the estate keeper) to get a tour around the park and learn a bit more about what will need to be cleaned up on the volunteer days I promote. It was nice to tour around the estate and see places that I had not been yet. When I was done with the tour I headed back to the palace and working on more homework for my internship before dinner. After dinner we had a bit before it was host family trivia night. This time I did not sign up for a host family because I did not think that I would have enough time for it with my internship, but I still went down to play with everyone. The trivia was on UK History and Migrations, so it was going to be hard to begin with and then my team (Chet, Chris, Malachi and I) did not have anyone that ever lived in the UK before so we were very lost a helpless. It was still really fun though and we had good laughs coming up with answers. When we were done with trivia we had a relaxing night and went to bed.
Chapter 2: Day 36: 26 Feb 2019
Today we had Econ class in the morning, lunch and then a class field trip to Edinburgh. When we got into Edinburgh we started at the University of Edinburgh Library where we got to see books written by Adam Smith, David Hume and Isaac Newton. I am usually not one for history, but being in a city with so much of it makes learning a lot easier. We spent time looking through 6 books and discussed who the people were and how they were important to Scotland.
After the library we walked down to where Adam Smith (founder of modern economics) had lived and is now buried. When we were done with the field trip we headed back to the house for dinner and a relaxing movie night.
Chapter 2: Day 37: 27 Feb 2019
Today I slept in as long as I could before rolling out of bed into class. We had class and then I had lunch duty, then a meeting with Gloria and Ashley about my internship. Just talking about what I learned from Cameron and how I am going to keep working on my internship. After the meeting we went on a an Estate tour with Cameron and got to learn about the history of the Estate. It was a beautiful day out and nice to be able to go on a walk. After that we had dinner and then a game night with some of the professors and students. I ended up playing Codenames which is always a fun time.

Chapter 2: Day 38: 28 Feb 2019
Today I had class in the morning like usual, except this time we had a test. With the module form we are essentially squeezing in about three weeks of learning into four days, so we get to have a test every week! This week it was not too terrible and now I know more what to prepare for next week too. When we were done with the test we had a bit more lecture and then got out early, so I went back to bed until lunch! I am starting to feel better now and am trying to avoid getting sick again so the sleep was much appreciated.
After lunch Sarah and I went down to the Restoration Yard because I had a meeting with the Marketing Director there so that I could get a better idea of what they are looking for, for the volunteer program I am starting. It was a fantastic meeting and I want to be best friends with their marketer. When I was done with the meeting we headed back to the house and I talked with Ashley for a bit about what I learned during my meeting before dinner.
Chapter 2: Day 39: 01 Mar 2019
Today most of the house got up and headed to Craigmiller Castle. Last time I was here I visited this Castle twice, but love it so much I wanted to go again, and I am glad I did. It was a lot of fun exploring the castle and hearing all of the stories that had happened there from Oliver and Jo (professors kids). The two kids make everything so much fun and I am happy that they are here!
When we were done with the castle Malachi and I headed into the town, got food at Boozy Cow, topped up my phone and store hopped for a while. In one of the stores we found two Unicorn Hobby Horses and ended up getting them for Oliver and Jo. While at the castle the kids kept talking about how they needed to save the unicorn and unicorn princess, so when we saw them we knew that we had to get them. Once we picked up the Unicorns we grabbed the bus back to Dalkeith, stopped at Lidl for food for dinner and breakfast and went back to the house. When we got back we made some food and then decided to have a movie night. We watched the second Lord of the Rings.

Chapter 2: Day 40: 02 Mar 2019
Today we slept in a lot! It was very nice and much needed. I really had no plan other than I kind of wanted to get dressed up cute and go into the city for dinner/drinks, so Malachi and I made a plan to get ready and get dinner in the city. We ended up having dinner at Bella Italia which was busy, but luckily we got a table pretty quick. The food was pretty good and it was a cute atmosphere, but the dessert was delicious! After dinner we walked around for a while trying to decide what we wanted to do before settling on The Jolly Judge. It was a very cute, small pub with an older demographic which was very laid back and relaxing. We stayed for one drink there and then were trying to decide if we wanted to go back to the house or find somewhere new. We walked for a while and decided to stop in a pub called Tollbooth Tavern because they were having live music.
The musician was great and it was still relatively empty which was nice, so that we were able to just sit and chat. After a few songs the musician was done and we were again trying to decide what we wanted to do. We had been talking with Sarah, Lauren and Kyle and decided to meet up with them for a while. We checked out a few places, but they were not exactly what we were looking for so we walked around and came to Frankensteins. The atmosphere there was a bit more what we were looking for, so we went in and hung out for a while enjoying the music. When we were done there we walked back to the main drag to catch the bus home. It was a very fun night on the town with the best group of friends!
