Blog #12: Forever Tired

Hello Readers!

This week has been full of emotions.

I started the week with a busy day of classes  like normal, however, I ended up having 6 hours of globalization as it was our last day.

  • During our breaks between classes I played football (soccer) and Frisbee with many different people which was a good way to relax and enjoy the nice day even though we were stuck inside for most of it.

Tuesday was a fun day after a long day of classes! I started the day with a trip into Edinburgh with Sofia. We started the day at Tribal Body Art and before you assume I actually didn’t punch more holes in my body, I just got more cleaner for the ones I already have.

After we got that, we were hungry and were trying to think of somewhere to eat when I mentioned The Elephant House, so we headed there.

  • Usually the line to get into the restaurant is very long, but we were lucky enough to only have to wait about 15 minutes before getting a seat. When we got a seat, we were able to sit on a nice sofa, and order our food. If I am being honest the food was super mediocre at best. I am happy that I was able to go to the place J. K. Rowling’s was inspired to write Harry Potter, but I can almost guarantee I will not be going back. After spending some time in the city headed home so Sofia could get to class and I could go to dinner duty.

When dinner was over I had a pasta cooking class, which was so much fun.

  • I got to make three kinds of pasta, fettuccini, angel hair & ravioli, plus two types of sauces, a white wine sauce (which was to die for) and a red sauce.

Wednesday morning I had classes and then spent the rest of the day attempting to work on homework until Adam asked if I wanted to play football, which I couldn’t say no too, so after a bit we (Adam, Reid, Zach, Derek, Molly, Rebekah,  & myself) headed to the fields and played until we couldn’t see any more.

  • Before heading home after playing we stopped at the park for a bit and embraced our inner child which was much needed.

Once we got home, we relaxed for a bit and then I watched a movie with Reid, Adam & Connor.

  • We watched Talladega Nights, which I had never seen but I actually really enjoyed it

Thursday I slept until noon and it was absolutely amazing and much needed! I spent the majority of the day well sleeping but also working on homework until later that night when we had a Bon Fire.

  • It was so much fun to have a fire and listen to country music even though it made me miss my camping family! After many laughs and lots of off key singing we called it a night.

The next day was a very fun day! Today we headed out to Alnwick, England to see the Alnwick Castle and Gardens which was one of the most beautiful places we have been and quite possibly my favorite house trip so far.

  • Words cannot even begin to describe how beautiful the area was so there will be many photos attached.

When we got back to the house we relaxed for a bit and then Sarah Kaye and I decided to go out for the night, so we got ready and headed into the city for some fun.

Saturday was another long day in the city. Sarah Kaye, Sofia and I all headed into the city in the morning with the initial plan of going to the Botanic Gardens, however we vetoed that plan because it was kind of chilly out to be walking around.

  • We started the morning with breakfast and then walked around the city for a while collecting stickers and shop hopping until Sofia headed home and Sarah Kaye and I went to the National Gallery to do some research for our class.

  • Once we were done at the gallery we headed to Boozy Cow for some delicious food and yummy shakes to re-energize before heading to Primark for a few things. After trying on a few things we were about to check out when Sarah couldn’t find her wallet so we had them hold our stuff and we ran back to the restaurant where luckily we were able to find it. Since that whole episode we took that as a sign to go home so we check out and headed home to work on homework for the rest of the night.

Happy Easter!

This was my first Easter away from home and even though I missed my family it was fun to spend the holiday with my Scotland family.

I started the morning by going to church in Edinburgh with Sara, which was much needed after feeling the stress of the end of the semester. After church we headed to Barburrito for some food before heading back to the house.

When we got back I worked on homework and photos for a bit before making pasta with Sarah Kaye for the house Easter dinner we were having later.

Once we were done with dinner Amanda and I watch the first Harry Potter.

  • We were craving the movie after seeing where part of it was filmed on Friday!

After that movie Isabelle and I watched Ms. Congeniality until we called it a night!

  • It was a good way to send a long, emotional weekened!

Talk to you soon & thank you for reading

The title:

When coming up with this title I was stuck between the one I chose, Forever Tired and I Can’t. The reason I went with Forever Tired is because that is how I feel right now. With the end drawing near of the program there are so many emotions that have been going through my head. It will definitely a bitter, not so sweet moment of going back to the states. I am enjoying all the time I have here fully by never really saying no to offers of being social, so I am always tired. After many long and late nights I would take the tiredness and memories over a goodnight sleep and not as good of friends.
