Our last stop on our adventure was Barcelona
Hello Readers!
Wednesday, March 29th continued: Once we landed in Barcelona we had to trek through the entire airport to the other side and down to the train station. Right away we didn’t know what tickets to get, but after a bit we figured it out and were able to get on the train. We were very lucky to have gotten on the one we did because that was the last train of the night! After we got off that train we were supposed to transfer to a metro, only to learn once we got there that the metro we needed to take was closed! Once we were done panicking we went to the surface to find a but, however, since we had just arrived we didn’t have any small change for the bus so that was not an option. After a bit of talking we decided just to walk to the hostel. By the time we made it to the hostel, at about 1:30am, we were both so exhausted that we just decided to call it a night.

Thursday, March 29th: Today was our first full day in Barcelona. We started the morning by exploring the city some and trying to find somewhere to eat. After a while we chose a café and has some breakfast. Once we were done with that we decided to have a relaxing day at the beach, so we stopped at the hostel to change and then made our way to the beach. Since it is still early in the spring it wasn’t quite warm enough to go in the water, but It still felt amazing to have my toes in the sand.

After a few hours, we started to get chilly so we went to find some food by the dock. We found a place that was reasonably cheap so we ordered a pizza. With our bellies full we headed back to the hostel for a bit to relax and freshen up for dinner.
- For dinner we went to a tapas bar close by which was okay. The chicken that we had, had tiny bones in it so it got frustrating to eat
Our original plan after dinner was to go into the city more for a night out, but we were both so tired that we just ended up going back to the hostel. We had some tea and called it a night since the next day was going to be busy.
Friday, March 31st: Today we got an early start to the day. We started the morning by making breakfast (egg & toast with Nutella and banana on it) in the hostel kitchen. Once our bellies were full we headed out to start the adventures on the day.

Our first stop was the Arc de Triumf, which if I am being honest it was pretty but nothing too exciting. Behind the Arc however was a beautiful park where we saw someone making bubbles, a beautiful fountain and row boats. We wander around the park for a while before heading to the gothic quarters where we saw Placa del Rei, Palau de la Generalitat and the Cathedral de Santa Eulalia.
- I enjoyed the gothic quarter because of all the cute little shops and how beautiful and dark the architecture was.

After we were done getting lost in the gothic quarters we headed up to Parc Gϋell (a park designed by Gaudi). We ended up taking the longer back was up the hill actually turned out to be a very pretty walk.
- We got a great view of the city, saw some schools, housed, and lots of street art that was beautiful!
Once we finally made it to the actual park explored for a bit and ended up meeting Luke.
- Luka is a 70-year-old jewelry maker who has had a pretty adventurous life so far. We ended up talking with him for about an hour before continuing to explore the park.

- The main part of the park that I wanted to see you had to pay for so we ended up not doing that.
When we were done exploring the park we headed downtown to find some food. We didn’t have a place in mind of where we wanted to eat so we just wandered some side streets looking for a place to eat. After a few failed attempts and a lot of walking we ended up looking up a place and just going there and heading back to the hostel.

Once we returned to the hostel we met two of our new roommates, Charlie and Devin, and hit it off with them right away. A while later we all decided to go to Las Ramblas to see some night life, however, it wasn’t that busy which was okay. We ended up checking out a few bars and wandering around until we were all tired and ready to head back to the hostel for the night.
Saturday, April 1st: Today was a crummy day. It rained almost all day which made it hard to be motivated to do much. I started the morning by getting up early to have tea with Charlie before he had to check out since Amanda wasn’t awake yet. Once she woke up we started the day like the last by making breakfast at the hostel before heading to Casa Batllo (a house designed by Gaudi).
- When I had been to Barcelona before we only got to see the outside, so this time I made sure to see the inside and I am happy I did, however it wasn’t as exciting as I hoped, but none the less it was still beautiful and I am happy I was able to see more of Gaudi’s creations.

After touring the house we were both hungry so we went to a restaurant by our hostel. As soon as we sat down we both were instantly tired from staying up late last night, so we ate our food and went back to the hostel to take a nap.
When we woke up again we got ready for the bar crawl the hostel was putting on. At this point I had been talking to Charlie all day and he decided he wanted to join the crawl even though he had check out already, so I told him where we were going to be and he met up with us.
- We started the night at an irish pub called George Payne which was actually a lot of fun. There were a lot of people and good music.
- After a while there we went to a club called City Hall which was a techno club so what was interesting. Downstairs was very techno music which I wasn’t a huge fan of so we stayed upstairs for the majority of the night.

Once we danced our hearts out we headed back to the hostel. Amanda went to bed right away, but I wanted some tea so Charlie and I made tea and ended up talking until about 6:30 in the morning! By the time we said goodbye the sun was just coming up.
- Even though we were both exhausted it was fun to stay up and talk about really everything.
Sunday, April 2nd: Our fake last day in Barcelona. This morning we had to check out of our hostel so we had to get up early, which meant I only got maybe an hour of sleep. After we checked out of our hostel we headed to the gothic quarters again to explore some more before heading to Segrada Familia (a church designed by Gaudi).
- The church was beautiful. On the outside it had gorgeous details but not much color, but the inside oh my goodness it was beautiful. There were so many vibrant colors it was like being in a child’s mind.

A bit later we had tickets to climb up one of the towers and that’s where we met Matt and Ayesha.
- Before we had even gotten in line we were putting our stuff in a locker and I heard a lens cap for a camera drop and I just assumed it was mine because mine had been falling off all day. When I looked down at my camera mine was still on so I said “it’s not mine this time” and that when Matt said nope its mine and then we all just started talking. We ended up taking the elevator up the tower with them and walking with them the whole way back down.
- Somehow they ended up convincing us to stay an extra day so we found a cheap flight and hostel and booked them for another day in Barcelona.

Once we had our new tickets booked we went to get some food with them before heading to our new hostel.
- Our new hostel was nice, but a way out of town which was a bummer. Luckily Barcelona has very good public transportation so it was easy enough to get around.
When we got to our hostel we relaxed for a while before heading to George Payne (the Irish pub we went to the other night) to meet up with Matt and Ayesha for a last night out. We started there and met another couple from Canada and talked with them for a while before parting ways. When we left the pub we were all a bit hungry so we headed to a place called Milk where Ayesha ordered us all some sort of shrimp dish that was delicious! Once we had eaten a lot and talked even more it was time for us to part ways and head to bed.

Monday, April 3rd: Today was our actual last day in Barcelona so we didn’t have much time to do something so we decided it would be another good beach day so we headed to the water. We relaxed on the beach for a few hours before heading to the gothic quarters once again for a last-minute souvenir.

After we were done there we headed to the airport and caught out plane home.

Once we arrived home I ended up hanging out with Adam and Sarah Kaye for a while talking about how our breaks were and what all we did before I headed to bed.
Over all it was an amazing spring break. I am so happy that I was able to meet as many amazing people as I did and see all the wonderful sites. I cannot wait to travel again and see new places and meet even more amazing people.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my spring break. I know it was long but when you are traveling for 12 days you experience a lot!
Talk to you soon & thank you for reading!
