Onto Budapest and a spontaneous trip to Vienna
Hello Readers!
Saturday, March 25th continued: We finally landed in Budapest! By the time we landed in Budapest it was about 11:30 at night so we had to rush to the hotel to check in and get ready for the SPARTY.
- Budapest has one of the hardest public transportations to figure out, so we ended up taking a taxi to the hostel which was a huge mistake. We ended up paying way too much money for it, but we were able to get to the hostel quick which was nice.
When we got to the hostel we had to drop our bags and run to the SPARTY which was a party in the thermal baths.
- We only had a few hours at the pool, but It was worth going because it was kind of chilly out and the baths were warm so it was nice to be able to relax in them after traveling.
Sunday, March 26th: Today we started the day by sleeping until the afternoon. We were both so tired from traveling and staying up late the night before that we needed some extra sleep. When we finally did get up we headed to an Indian café around the corner (Dejeeling Teahouse & Coffee) for some inexpensive and delicious food!
Once we were done eating we took the tram to the bridge between Buda and Pest to meet Ian, someone we met after the SPARTY. He has been to Budapest before so he offered to show us the Fisherman’s Bastion.
- Once we reached the top the view was incredible. It was like a whole little town above another town.

After wandering there for a bit more we walked across the chain bridge and by the water.
- Along the water we saw the monument of the great massacre (The Shoes on the Danube).
- We also saw the parliament building.

Once we were done walking a bit more we headed back to the hostel to make some food before heading out on the ruin pub crawl.
- The ruin pubs are janky bars that look like they are just thrown together, but they were all very cool. After visiting the three bars we headed to the club and danced the night away.

Monday, March 27th: Today I slept in a bit, but not as much as yesterday. I started the morning doing some writing and relaxing until Amanda got up and we went to the same café for some food.

After we were done eating we walked to the train station to buy our tickets to Vienna!!
Once we were done giggling with excitement we headed to the Synagogue, but it was too expensive to get in so we just walked around the outside and then wandered around for a while exploring the city and stopped to get some food before heading back to the hostel and calling it an early night.
Tuesday, March 28th: TODAY WE WENT TO VIENNA TO SEE SAM & ALEX!
We started the morning nice and early with a 5:40am 2 ½ train ride to Vienna. We slept for most of the train ride there so we didn’t see much of the landscape as we went.

Once we arrived in Vienna we ended up walking to their hostel since it was a little less than a mile away. When we got there they weren’t quite ready so we walked through the market right by which was adorable. There were so many restaurants and all sorts of fun food that we were able to try.

When they were ready we met up and headed to the town center where we tried to go into a few places but they were 19 and under for free so we decided to find something cheaper that we could all enjoy. After a few wrong turns, we make it to St. Stephens cathedral, which we were able to get into most of it for free so we looking around there for a while.

By this time we were all starting to get hungry so we went to look for some food. We headed for the river to see what option they had. We ended up finding some fun food stands that we decided to eat at. Once we all got our food we went across the bridge and down by the river to eat.
- It was the perfect place to eat and the perfect day. The sun was shining, the food was good, the street are was beautiful and the company was better than ever.

After we were done eating we walked back across the bridge and rented bikes that we rode over to the oldest amusement park in the world!
- Since it was still early in the season not many of the attractions were open, however, we were able to ride the Ferris wheel which gave a beautiful view of the city.

When the ride was over we wander the park for a while more before heading back to return the bikes. It was almost time for us to get back to the train so we stopped for some ice cream and to chat a bit more before we said goodbye again and got onto the train back to Budapest.
- It amazes me how in just a few hours and for not much money we were able to travel to a new county.
By the time we got back we were both tired from our long adventure so we went to bed.
Wednesday, March 29th: Today was our last day in Budapest, so for one last time we got breakfast at Darjeeling Teahouse & Café before heading to the Hospital in the Hill. What should have been a 15-minute journey ended up turning into a two hour adventure to get to the Hospital. We had no clue where we were going and as I mentioned before Budapest public transportation is challenging because nothing is clearly marked.
Once we finally figured out where we were going we made It to the Hospital in the Hill and took a tour.
- If I am being honest I was scared for the tour because I don’t like hospitals and anything that has to do with war because it scared me a lot, but I am very happy that we did the tour. It was very fascinating to hear about all the history of the hospital and crazy to think of all the battles it went thought.
After the Hospital tour we realized that we were up on the Fisherman’s Bastion so we stopped for some food, explored some more, and got some souvenirs before going to the airport to catch our flight to the next destination.
